The Disappearing Egg Shell

Two nights ago, the Pusheens overheard a conversation with my science teacher and me. My science teacher called me to say hi, and the Pusheens eavesdropped! They got an idea.

They wanted to do a science experiment. So they went online and searched up “easy experiments to do at home.” They found one called the “disappearing egg shell.” They read this list of ingredients. It read: vinegar and one egg. And they thought it would be easy…

First Azul, Cheeks, and Eevee asked if I could put them on the table. So I did. Then they asked if I could get them vinegar, one egg, a glass, and a smaller glass. Before I did, I told them how eggshells contain calcium carbonate and the shell dissolves in vinegar because vinegar contains acid and the acid eats the shell.

They didn’t seem too interested.

I got everything they needed. Cheeks put the egg in the cup, Eevee made sure the vinegar was 5%, and Azul poured the vinegar into the glass.

They waited for 24 hours and these are the final results! Once they saw the rubbery, wobbly egg they were much more excited in science!
